May odds and ends

The following are a few odd shots taken around the country during my May travels, hope you enjoy.

An enthusiast captures the moment as the first public train since 1923 gets ready to depart from Lydney Jcn for Parkend during the Dean Forest Railway's reopening gala

40145 is captured outside Castlecroft shed on the East Lancs Railway shortly after returning from the Moors gala

Next stop is Loughborough on the Great Central as the 15.45 departure gets the RA during the diesel gala weekend

More miles covered as I ventured to S&C country and captured a 153/156 combination coming off Ribblehead Viaduct and being acknowledged by the track gang

66076 is caught in typical gloomy S&C weather as it crosses Ribblehead Viaduct with the Gascoigne Wood-Ayr coal empties, the Transit van and Postbus give a sense of scale to this wonderful structure

47826 is caught late at night undergoing maintenance at WCRC's Carnforth shed

The following morning and the scene is even busier with service checks, exams and repairs being carried out on the fleet

Finally 47818 keeps 47033 company on Gloucester's Horton Road shed
