South Devon Gala
I've just spent an enjoyable weekend at the South Devon Diesel Gala, a lovely little line which I have to confess to not visiting as often as I should so in an attempt to put that right I will be going back for the 1940's event in a few weeks and to November's diesel gala as well. Anyway as usual thanks to all who give their time for free to put these events on, hope you enjoy looking.
37037 is held next to the River Dart on the approach to Staverton at Hood Bridge
20227 proves an impressive sight as it head towards Staverton from the South
20110 goes over Napper's Crossing watched by the two straw men on the left, just out of shot is the local NIMBY who wouldn't stop complaining about noisy diesels spoiling the enjoyment of his house and how the hole village is not going to put up with it anymore, despite the railway being there a long time before he was even born.
Railfreight pair 20118 and 227 pass Water Pumping Station Two heading into Totnes
The main enjoyment for me over the weekend was 37037 caught here at Totnes with 37190 for company
Ironically my favourite photo from the weekend is this one of Prairie 5526 at Water Pumping station Two, although it was a diesel gala the addition of one steam turn on the Sunday still adds to my enjoyment as I manage to find interest in all things rail, unlike some I can think of, but as the saying goes 'each to their own'.
