Hello and welcome to my small part of the virtual highway.

About my site

The pages associated with this site contain photographs taken recently which nearly all involve railways or rail related subjects, please take a few minutes to browse through and hopefully enjoy what I have posted. If you have any comments (positive or negative) please do get in touch via E-mail at gwilliams851ATfreeuk.com (replacing AT with @)

Below you will find the links to mini galleries with recent shots from my travels around and about the UK by clicking on the picture you will be taken to the days mini gallery which usually contains about six shots.

The page starts with my most recent trip out with my camera, which for those of you with an interest, is a Cannon EOS 300D.

Thanks for taking the time to have a look,  please also note that all images are (c) copyright gwilliams851 and may only be used or reproduced with prior permission (which will nearly always be given) obtainable from the e-mail address above.

About me

My name is Gareth Williams I am 37 years old and am Gloucester 'born and bred'. My railway interest started in about 1977 when I was taken to Cheltenham station to watch the trains and was offered a cab visit by a driver, as an impressionable 8 year old I was overawed by the size and noise as this was the first time I had been so close to a machine this big. I later found out the loco was 46052 which possibly explains why the Peaks have always held a special interest for me along with any product from the English Electric Company.

I have spent time working within the railway industry and although it is no longer my main job I do still 'keep my hand in' by doing some work for a railway company which allows me privileged access to certain areas normally out of bounds. Some photos on this site were taken from the other side of the fence, these were all done with full permission and full PTS certification.

I am also involved in a small way with the preservation movement being a member of several societies and a volunteer with the Class 15 Preservation Society, details of which can be found in the links section at the bottom of the page.
